WARRANTS

Arrest Warrants:
When the police believe they have enough probable cause to arrest someone for a crime, an arrest warrant may be issued. The police officer will make a declaration (written or verbal) of why they think the person should be arrested for a particular crime. They will then take this information to a judge. If the judge believes there is enough information set forth in the declaration, an arrest warrant will be issued.

Bench Warrants:
A Bench Warrant is a warrant issued by a judge to have someone arrested – usually because they failed to appear in court.
